GIVE IT TO THE WATER A Beltane Grief Tending Gathering, Tuesday 5th May 7:00pm
As the wheel turns toward Beltane and the fire of life rises, we gather by the sea to tend to grief together.
Beltane, the turn of season and a festival of vitality and aliveness. It marks the threshold into summer—a time when the earth is in full bloom, brimming with colour, movement, and creative force. Traditionally, it is a celebration of life’s abundance, of connection, passion, and the sacred spark that animates all things.
And yet, even in this season of brightness, grief walks beside us.
Grief does not keep to the seasons. It moves quietly beneath the surface, even as life flourishes all around us. At Beltane, we are invited into a more complex truth—that joy and sorrow can coexist, that vitality can hold tenderness, and that what aches within us is still worthy of care.
This gathering offers a gentle communal space to honour grief within the fullness of life. By the shoreline in Brighton, we come together to acknowledge what we carry—personally and collectively—and, where we are ready, to offer it to the water.
The sea has long been a place of release, reflection, and renewal. A meeting point between worlds. A place where emotion can move, soften, and return to something vast and holding.
Together, we will share in a simple ritual of grief tending, held within the energy of Beltane—where life is rising, and we are invited to meet ourselves with compassion in the midst of it.
This is not about fixing grief or moving beyond it. It is about making space for it, allowing it to breathe, and remembering that it moves more gently when held in community.
Beltane reminds us that even as life blooms, we are allowed to carry tenderness. That within the fire of living, there is space for softness, for remembrance, and for care.
We gather to breathe, to witness, and to gently give what we are carrying to the water.
